Annapolis is located in central Maryland on the south bank of the Severn River, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. It is the capital of Maryland and lies 27 miles south-southeast of Baltimore and 27 miles east of Washington, D.C. For long Annapolis has been an integral part of the national affairs and a sit of the U.S. Naval Academy. The city has successfully maintained its 17th century charm despite being home to modern industries and businesses.
Annapolis enjoys a temperate mid-latitude climate with warm, humid summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are best time for visitors to enjoy Annapolis. Summers receive heavy showers along with strong winds. Breezes from the Chesapeake Bay and nearby creeks moderate the city's temperature.
