Frederick is Maryland’s second largest city and located in Frederick County in the Washington-Arlington metro area. The community was named after the sixth Lord Baltimore, Frederick Calvert. It is only 40 miles from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland.The commercial center of Baltimore centers along Market and Patrick Streets. The City of Frederick Historic District has of a wide variety of 19th and early 20th century styles in residential and commercial architecture, including Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, Second Empire, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival and Neoclassical Revival. Many of the commercial buildings in the Frederick Historic District are actually conversions of original residential structures.
The climate of Frederick is refreshing and encourages tourists to visit the city. Summers are warm but the cool breeze at night makes the place pleasant. Winters are generally pleasant except for brief severe spells.
