Rockville is the fifth largest city in Maryland and is the county seat of Montgomery County. Rockville is 12 miles northwest of the nation’s capital and occupies 13.03 square miles amid the rolling hills of west-central Maryland within the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.

 The region has a temperate and partly continental climate. Summers are warm and humid while winters are fairly short and mild and temperatures sometimes fall below the freezing point.  Rockville receives an annual rainfall of 40 inches and snow of 22 inches.
