Hot Spots Maryland is best known for its beaches, mountains and historical monuments. The state is gained a reputation in terms of cultural heritage and nicknamed as the “America in Miniature”. The state also offers its visitors boundless opportunities through different adventure sports and science centers.
Annapolis:
The city is the capital of the state and like Baltimore embedded with rich cultural roots of colonial past. The town has several picturesque locations and provides an appearance of 18th century. It is located in central of Maryland on the south bank of the Severn River, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
- US Naval Academy: The prestigious college of US navy displays the films, tours and other exhibits related to military forces.
- Maryland State House: The country’s oldest in legislative use in United States. The house is topped by the largest wooden dome built without nails in the country which stands for wisdom.
Baltimore:
The city is nicknamed as the “Charm City” because of its numerous options of entertainment. It has been transformed into a hub of sparkling new hotels, shopping centers, and office buildings. The city is still maintained its traditional image and most of its urban restoration programs focus on the preservation or renovation of historical buildings.
- National Aquarium: Watch a live shark feeding itself over a continental breakfast in Baltimore’s National Aquarium. You can even dive beneath the surface or meet and touch the Aquarium’s dolphin or gray seal. The aquarium has more than 10,500 animals.
- USS Constellation: The last all sail warship built by the US Navy is open to public as a museum in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. It arranges for special tours for kids “Powder Monkey Tours” to learn about young recruits who served as powder monkeys during the Civil War. When on board, you can also examine the purpose, design and construction of sailing warships.
- Maryland Science Center: The Maryland Science Center is a private, non-profit organization that serves more than half a million visitors a year. It exhibits Dinosaurs, Planet Earth, and the Human Body, Outer space and Chesapeake Bay.
- Fort McHenry National Monument: Of all the areas in the National Park System, Fort McHenry is the only one designated a National Monument and Historic Shrine.
